Industry significant revelations. Trend setting, or world changing ideas. Brilliant realizations seem to a “dime-a-dozen”. Let’s face it; everyone has had a least one earth shattering idea at some point in their lives. But why is it that we don’t hear of most. Relatively speaking; why do most people’s great ideas go unnoticed or fail to manifest? Why do so few go from concept to creation, actual marketplace presence, or mainstream practice?
First, we would have to agree that prior to manifestation, every product, service or concept began as a mere thought. The thought then needs to translate into an expanded thought (or idea), then begin to conceptualize and eventually manifest. Maybe some folks just keep the great idea to themselves and never articulate it. Perhaps some folks just don’t have the creative matter or connections to develop the idea. Is it even possible that some folks just don’t care to pursue the idea, and remain completely content having possessed it without even having partially expressed its possibility? None-the-less; quite the shame! Imagine how many incredible ideas remain unfulfilled or delayed because of such inaction. Cures for disease, out-of-the textbook practices, and life changing interventions may go to the grave completely untapped and officially buried in an inaccessible time capsule – that person’s brain.
Naturally, the above assertions relate to the thought never having even morphed into an external idea. So, let’s say the thought is in fact pursued beyond idea and into the concept phase. Let’s imagine a best-case scenario. As an example; a person with both the financial means and marketplace acumen envisions a game changing food preparation and service concept. The concept is so spot on, and the service flow so pioneering that the upside is endless. However, the creator is the only person that possesses a furious passion, and truly buys into the concept. Purely stated, if this creator lacks the ability to convey their passion and gain the human trust and engagement required for ongoing work-force execution; eventual breakdown is imminent. Perhaps the concept is initially embraced by all as result of the novelty of the new concept, competitive compensation and incentives, yet begins to rapidly diminish in execution and scalability. What might be the problem? The concept is solid and presents an incredible upside. You see oftentimes, in its maiden voyage a concept will fail because of one simple fact. “Concepts are easy, people can be difficult”. One can blame it on location, marketplace conditions, the economy, lack of working capital, accelerated burn rates, etc., and that all may be true. Yet historically, further intimate examination will normally also reveal the ignored element of an infrastructure that failed to recognize the growth, mentoring, motivation, management and incentives required to continually ignite the people tasked to deliver the mission on a daily basis. Simply put; arriving at a great idea is easy, while developing it to a state that drives people to persistently execute, convert, and push momentum is DIFFICULT.
See every element through! Don’t let someone else pick up your dream and run with it! Pioneers have been known to starve, while settlers prosper. Don’t just think it; Transform intention to action!
